testing services. FM Approvals certification
assures customers that a product or service has
been objectively tested and conforms to the
highest national and international standards. FM Approvals
offers certification services to manufacturers of fire
protection equipment, electrical equipment, hazardous
location equipment, fire detection, signaling and other
electrical equipment, materials, roofing products and
smoke detection.
FIRE PUMP SELECTION
 All NFPA 20 fire pumps must operate with a flooded
suction condition.
 Fire pumps must not operate with a Suction Lift.
 Centrifugal pump for fire protection shall be selected to
operate at less than or equal to 150 percent of the rated
capacity
 Recommends operation between 90 to 140%
 Jockey Fire Water Pump is mandatory for Fire Water
pump system
 Jockey pump shall have discharge pressure sufficient to
maintain the desired fire protection system pressure.
WATER SUPPLY & MATERIAL
 Water supply shall be adequate, dependable and
acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction
 The acceptance of a well as a water supply source
shall be dependent upon satisfactory develop
